Steph Curry’s daily texts to Sabrina Ionescu didn’t work.
Ionescu, n ° 1 overall chosen by New York Liberty in Friday’s 2020 WNBA Draft, announced on a conference call with reporters that she would sign a shoe deal with Nike.
In an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area’s Logan Murdock and Kerith Burke earlier this week, Ionescu revealed that Curry is appealing to the press to try to get her to sign with Under Armor.
“I think he texts me almost every day,” Ionescu revealed on NBC Sports Bay Area. Runnin ‘Plays Podcast. “He works hard.”
Ionescu decided between Nike, Under Armor and Puma. She told Murdock and Burke that her relationship with Curry made the decision difficult.
âI have a great relationship with Steph so it’s a bit difficult,â Ionescu said this week. âBecause I’ve been Nike for 10 years. And then Puma is kinda booming too. So there are a lot of pros and cons to each of them. And so it’s kinda hard to do. trying to figure out who I want to go with and what would be the best fit. “
Ionescu, from Walnut Creek, is heading to the Big Apple and will play his home games at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
