Rafael Nadal’s dominance on clay is undeniable.
The tennis icon won the French Open again today, taking his 10th victory at the event. Nadal defeated Stan Wawrinka in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, 6-1. The victory gave Nadal his 15th career Grand Slam title.
Nike-sponsored Nadal has dominated the championship from the start, best exemplified by his thunderous forehand return to close the line in the second set, which drew a deafening response from the Parisian crowd.
In the victory, Nadal wore a special edition of his clay-ready Nike Lunar Ballsitec 1.5 style. The shoes featured a “9” on the heels, signifying the number of victories at Roland Garros before the 2017 victory.
The performance sneakers feature a plush Lunarlon midsole, Flywire cables for a dynamic fit, and the brand’s Drag-On technology for lasting lateral support. The model is available through nike.com with a price of $ 165.

To claim the surprise victory, Ostapenko wore the Adidas by Stella McCartney Barricade 2017 in bright orange, white and infrared colourways (the sneakers are available through adidas.com on sale for $ 110 – normally priced at $ 130).
