LeBron James is kicking off National Cereal Day next month in colorful style, thanks to a new collaboration with Fruity Pebbles and Nike. March 7 will see the release of the legendary NBA player’s latest project, a vibrant one made in collaboration with the “Flintstones” themed cereal.
On National Cereal Day, Nike will release the Nike LeBron James 19 Low Magic Fruity Pebbles sneakers, alongside the launch of the limited-edition Magic Pebbles cereal. Created in honor of James’ childhood love for Fruity Pebbles, the sneakers feature a red, yellow and purple color scheme that matches the new cereal. The high-top pair features exaggerated soles, white uppers, and counters printed with images of the cereal itself.
However, the boldest feature of the style comes from its color changing capabilities. The LeBron 19 Low pair uses photochromic DCS technology, allowing the sneakers’ airbags to use the sun’s UV rays to give its soles a purple hue. It’s no different from cereal, which gives milk a similar purple tone.
“Having an original pair of my Nike sneakers paying homage to my favorite cereal growing up is surreal,” James said in a statement. “Putting them on and seeing the colorway come to life is even better.”
However, the collaboration doesn’t just end with the joint launch of the shoes and the cereal. Each box of Magic Pebbles Cereal will include a 20% coupon for one item of Nike’s website. On March 10, kids ages 6-15 can also show off their most creative basketball moves on the Pebbles website to win a year’s supply of Pebbles cereal and be featured on a JumboTron at a basketball game.
Additionally, Pebbles is also running an online contest to win a pair of 19 Low sneakers. Although full terms and conditions are not currently available, consumers can find them at The Pebbles website on March 1 before the shoes are officially released to the public.
