LeBron James and NikeThe s signature line was sizzling in the early 2010s – an era widely considered to be Nike Basketball’s second “golden age” – and one of the most memorable styles was the LeBron 8 “HWC” (short for “Hardwood Classic”). Originally an EP created exclusively for the King, the “HWC” is now ready for its first commercial release.

The LeBron 8 was LBJ’s first signature silhouette to debut after leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat. While many success-hungry New York Knicks fans may have taken the blue and orange colorway “HWC” to signify LeBron was interested in the Big Apple, it was actually a reference to the Hardwood jerseys. Classic of the Cavs. The uppers are almost entirely dressed in blue, with panels divided between smooth blue suede and recessed synthetic material with a carbon fiber pattern. This whole assembly is reinforced with Flywire, and a white swoosh trimmed with orange crawls on the heel.

The heels feature an elongated tongue, which sits above an orange panel with LeBron’s signature and a Swoosh in blue. The medial side is almost entirely unmarked except for a small recessed Swoosh on the toebox. The throats are orange mesh, while the tabs feature an embossed patent leather lion motif on the outside and a “Designed and Engineered to Exact Mr. LeBron James” label on the inside. At the bottom, white EVA foam midsoles work with a full-length orange Air Max unit speckled with blue for added comfort. Translucent orange outsoles complete the look.

As of this writing, the official release date for the Nike LeBron 8 “HWC” has yet to be announced. However, early speculation has its release slated for a drop from #LeBronWatch on April 23.
