Nike LeBron 19 to debut in “Space Jam: A New Legacy”

LeBron James’ new film “Space Jam: A New Legacy” hits theaters on July 16, and with it, his new shoe: the Nike LeBron 19.

As James teams up with Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes, he’ll be wearing a new pair of shoes on the basketball court.

The LeBron 19 adopts a unique futuristic design not typically seen in a basketball shoe before, with inspiration drawn from the themes of the film, according to a statement.

Jason Petrie, senior shoe designer at Nike, described what the shoe exemplifies.

“Brand new technology, a new expression that is there to really perform for LeBron on and off the court, but also to show you an expression that you have never seen before from Nike and LeBron,” said Petrie.

Petrie detailed the thought process that went into creating the shoe and talked about the innovation behind it all.

“This is the first time that we’ve really cast a shoe in a movie,” said Petrie. “What we really wanted to do was go into the movie and shoot what LeBron is using in the real world so that everyone can figure it out.”

Features of the shoe include a dual chamber Air Max unit in the heel as well as a new shaped Zoom Air front unit.

The LeBron 19 will be released with the “Space Jam: A New Legacy” collection in July and will be available for purchase at, SNKRS and at select retailers.

James’ latest shoe release with Nike, the LeBron 18, came in September during the Orlando bubble.
