Along with a successful basketball career, LeBron James has one of the most notable sneaker legacies in NBA history. Deals such as the Nike LeBron 8 “South Beach” and the LeBron 8 “Miami Nights” are some of King James’ more notable offerings that are also seeing a retro this year. For its next iteration, LeBron is once again tapping into its archives to bring the ‘Stewie Griffin’ style of the Nike LeBron 6 to a much newer silhouette, the LeBron 18 Low.
The cartoon-inspired design debuted on the LeBron 6 in 2009 as an all-new PE colourway, though James himself and (unsurprisingly) PJ Tucker were seen sporting the Holy Grail in the field in 2018. Similar to the original design, this new LeBron 18 iconic long sleeve jumpsuit and dungarees from Stewie Griffin. Even the blue sneakers of the “Family Guy” character are referenced, as shown by the added touch of blue around the toe and on the plastic heel. Austere black outlines throughout the model, including the Swooshes profile, further portray the lively style of Stewie and his family. The branding “LB23” on the heel and Nike React cushioning brings the outfit into a new era and completes the cartoonish style.
Take a closer look at the LeBron 18 Low below, which will release in the next few months on Nike.com.
In other Swoosh-related news, a Nike Air Force 1 “Toasty”, ready for fall, is on the way.
