It’s not often that arguably the greatest basketball player of all time stops by the gym for a round of pro-am basketball on a summer Saturday afternoon, but that’s exactly what LeBron James did yesterday. A day earlier, there was growing buzz that James would make his return to Drew League Los Angeles, where he last played in 2011. James teamed up with Compton native and regular at DeMar DeRozan. the Drew League, for the MMV Cheaters, and things happened. pretty much as expected. The two combined for 72 points, with James counting for 42 of them, to edge Black Pearl Elite 104-102. However, the story wasn’t just James’ seemingly never-ending highlight reel of the evening, but also the hot pink sneakers he wore to the game.
As we reported for Complex last month, this shoe is, in fact, the next Nike LeBron 20. The bottom is a marked departure from the usual direction of James’ signature line and is more in line with the Ambassador 13 that James has preferred for most of the last season and a half. A mesh-like construction is highlighted by out-of-place Swoosh branding and the chunky Max Air cushioning, a staple of the James line, is noticeably absent. These shots from the game also reveal a metallic “XX” dubrae on the laces, further confirming that this is the next signature model.
There is currently no announced timeline for the release of the LeBron 20, but we will continue to monitor updates in the coming months.
