Drake Teases Nike Collab In ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’ Music Video

Drake released new single ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’ and accompanying music video last night, kicking off his new album cycle Certified lover. But for sneakerheads, the most notable development was that Drake turned the Nike campus into his own playground for video that might as well be an advertisement.

Drake indulged in a shopping spree at the legendary Nike employee store, got trained by a range of Nike athletes and teased a new collaboration with the Swoosh. Several new pieces of clothing could be spotted in the video, including an OVO workout shirt and a Certified lover hoodie worn by Odell Beckham Jr. Most intriguing was a mysterious sneaker worn by Drake throughout, which could very well be his own Nike design.

The mystery erupts — Drake can be seen wearing the all-white sneakers in multiple settings, and the silhouette looks nothing like Nike’s existing models. The mid-cut kicks feature a perforated upper in what looks like leather, as well as an exposed air bubble towards the heel.

Jordan Brand has released several Jordan signature line OVO makeups over the years, but Drake has yet to release his own with Nike. Drake would have been this about to sign with rival Adidas – until Pusha T’s exposure of the planned rollout coinciding with his son’s announcement ruined the deal. Drake still blames Kanye West for warning Pusha T, and the salt is still apparent with the line “This between us is not like a store, this is not a resealable gap.”

Stay tuned for more – Chances are, whatever Drake is up to with Nike will be released alongside Certified lover. A release date has yet to be announced, but now that it’s in full album mode, it should be coming soon.
