On Christmas 2010, Nike Basketball released arguably its two best holiday-themed versions with the Kobe 6 and LeBron 8 V2.
The Nike Kobe 6 “Grinch” features a Lime Green colourway reminiscent of Dr. Suess’ infamous holiday grumpy The Grinch. However, the shoe itself was actually inspired by the Green Mamba, a colorful version of Kobe Bryant’s Black Mamba moniker. It features a textured snakeskin upper to play more on that inspiration, while having contrasting Varsity Red accents to give off Christmas vibes. On Christmas 2022, Nike would update the beloved colorway by releasing a Kobe 6 Protro version.
LeBron James made his Nike LeBron 8 V2 “Christmas” debut on Christmas Day 2010, when the Miami Heat played against the Los Angeles Lakers. The shoe features a Sport Red upper with Flywire cables along the side panels for added support. Additional details include Victory Green laces, an oversized tongue, White Swooshes on a Black and White speckled midsole fitted with a visible full-length Air unit.
